These tips and tricks will help to ensure your family pet will have a safe Halloween.

  • Make sure your pet is in a safe place for the night. Placing them in the bathroom  with their food/water and litter box will provide security for them. The constant ringing doorbell and scary visitors will frighten your pet. Also the frequently opening door will also provide a means of escape from the excitement.

  • Make sure all pets are wearing ID tags and collarscharles.jpg

MoCats and Pet Urnsst people that have a cat that is overweight may have a problem Trying to get them to exercise. Cats are known more for napping than for moving around even though they do have bursts of energy from time to time but not on demand. The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association has stated that feline obesity can have serious health effects. Therefore if you care about your feline then it is your responsiblity to help them lose the weight.

These are some recommended steps:

  1. Check with your  vet-Be sure your feline does not have a health issue causing the extra weight, find out what their healthy weight should be and get advice on a calorie reduced food.
  2. Don’t feed him treats or scraps- from the table
  3. Encourage activity and play- Try to get your cat to play at least twice a day or more for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Collect a range of toys they might be interested in to keep them motivated
  5. Weigh in once a week- at the same time of the day just before a meal.
  6. Keep a record of his progress towards the target weight
  7. Smaller meals should as many as three or four as day rather than two larger ones
