This type of claim are becoming more and more common now with pets but is usually reserved for immediate family members, The pet owner who was suing said that the dog provided each member of the family with ’solace, affection, friendship, love and protection’, which as we all know is true about our own pets. This is how much our pets mean to us in the fact it can become a legal battle in the same way as a human being.The defendant says that dogs are by law personal property and not eligible for no economic damages for personal property.This is just the start of such a case where the pet is more than just a pet but the family member who was run over. Pets are so much part of our lives now as they travel with us, spend time relaxing, playing with us, having their medical attention as us and so forth. Pets are our home, our life and our love so yes they should be protected as one of our own child.
